I ran across something on the interwebs listing the “complete top 20 ranking of lesbian heroines.” I read on… but I was not at all in agreement with most of the ladies on their list. So, naturally I decided to assemble my own list… with a little help around the net.

Sure, most everyone in the free world would put Angelina Jolie near the top of their list. But who else is out there? Here is my list… in no particular order:

1. Kathy Belge–Lesbian Life Guide and half of Curve’s “Lipstick & Dipstick.”
2. Jennifer Beals plays power lesbian Bette Porter on The L Word.
3. Ellen DeGeneres came out shortly after the character she played on TV did in 1996. She now stars in her own daily talk show.
4. Portia de Rossi stars in that TV show about Ted or something, but more importantly married Ellen DeGeneres in 2008.
5. Rachel Maddow Maddow is the first openly lesbian anchor to host a prime-time news program in the US.
6. Kate Clinton is a lesbian comedian and actress.
7. Melissa Etheridge: Grammy winner Melissa came out at the 1993 Presidential Inauguration. Married to Tammy Lynn Michaels.
8. Clementine Ford– Molly from The L Word… another Shane girlfriend
9. Kristanna Loken starred in Terminator 3 and was Shane’s girlfriend on The L Word.
10. Lizzie the Lezzie– lesbian cartoon comedian
11. Katherine “Kate” Moennig plays heart-throb Shane on The L Word.
12. Rosie O’Donnell: The talk show host came out, in part to help fight for the rights of gay and lesbian parents.
13. Amy Ray is a lesbian rocker and part of the musical duo, The Indigo Girls.
14. Sarah Shahi plays Carmen on The L Word.
15. Drew Barrymore recently said, “Do I like women sexually? Yeah, I do.”
16. Leisha Hailey: Leisha was Alice on The L Word. And I think is going to be in The L Word spin off.
17. Alexandra Hedison was once lovers with Ellen DeGeneres, but she is best known for her guest role as Dylan on The L Word.
18. Nelly Furtado came out as bisexual and wants her own gay pride parade.
19. Laurel Holloman on The L Word.
20. kd lang: Grammy winning musician and lesbian.
21. Now, as for my lucky “#21″ on my very own “ranking of lesbian heroines”: this last one is the tops in my book… my all time favorite… and “The Only One!”… My wife. I am the luckiest girl in the world!

… a cheap hose from Home Depot (or anywhere else I suppose).

1. The first ten minutes wrestling with the hose
2. The second ten minutes attempting to un-kink the hose
3. The third ten minutes struggling to untangle the unholy mess that is the hose (you get the idea)
4. Running back and forth to turn water off so I can continue to contend with the useless pile of rubber
5. iPod ear buds constantly falling out of my ears (you know, during the struggle)
6. Sunglasses falling off my face (yeh, same reason)
7. Change of clothes needed once I got tired of turning off water while untangling the mess… got soaked in the process
8. Cracked sprayer handle from all the times I dropped it to go untangle the water-stopping hose kinks
9. That is one hour of my life I’ll never get back
10. Having to cleverly re-coil said hose so that that I won’t have to go through all of this next time I use it!

I have been reading a book lately by Wayne Dyer. It is a great book! Anyone who has read Wayne Dyer probably knows why.

There are some affirmations in this book that I have been working on incorporating into my daily life. Sort of replacing those old and automatic negative thoughts with new more conscious life affirming and healthy thoughts.

Here’s the thing… as I am working to be more present, proactive and positive in my every day life, I often chuckle at myself while practicing these positive thoughts. See, I kind of feel like Bob from “What About Bob?” as he was walking down the street repeating the mantra you see in this picture.

Anyone else out there feel what I am talking about?

So, I figure that even if it seems silly sometimes that it sure can’t hurt anything to continue to monitor my stream of habitual thoughts and then replace them when needed!

Anyway, if you were to have to describe yourself as one character from the movie “What About Bob?” Which would you be?

Another weird similarity from the movie…?? Yeh, I usually vocalize my enjoyment of good food about as much as “Bob” did in this scene.

Since I am way off on a rabbit trail now… I may as well tell you that one of my favorite scenes from the movie is when Dr. Leo Marvin tries to have a heart-to-heart chat with his daughter Anna… using puppets! HA!

Along the journey toward one’s search for meaning… there are odd little speed bumps like this one…

What does this even mean?

(In case you can’t quite see the line in question… it is “Friends don’t let friends clean up alone.” Hmm…)

Or… the alternate title could be: “Something stinks in Spain” (where Jillian took several fellas in pursuit of a rose from her). Either way, I am thrilled to report Bachelorette fans that Jillian FINALLY sent Wes packin’ last night!

If you don’t follow The Bachelorette, (annie) this pic. at left will pretty much describe for everyone who Wes was. He was a snake who was captured many times on the show telling the guys he was not there for Jillian, but for “publicity” for his no-talent-run-of-the-mill voice. Thankfully, the producers only ever let him get one line of a song out of his mouth before they covered over the top of it with Jillian speaking. Then in most recent episodes the rumors that Wes “had a girlfriend” became too prevalent to ignore. Last week Jake (who hadn’t received a rose the week before) returned to tell Jillian and confront Wes. If you click here you can read a recap of the Spain dates.

Here’s a choice quote on the Wes “exorcism”:

“There’s not even a need for a pre-rose ceremony chat — Jillian knows who’s getting the (cowboy) boot. And thank God, because at this point Wes has gone completely off the rails: ”If it’s me [who's sent home],” he tells the assembled bachelors, ”know that I will be back home having lots of sex.” Don’t forget to fill your Valtrex prescription first, hayseed! (Reid and Kip, to their credit, look totally disgusted.) When it comes time for the final rose, Wes looks positively giddy — his escape route back home to Austin and Laurel is in his sights. and Ed (who left the show a few weeks ago for his job, but returned because he missed Jillian).

Who do you think Jillian will pick? Are any of these three remaining guys REALLY that into Jillian? What do you make of Jillian not taking advantage of the “fantasy suite” cards (except for Ed…)? And finally, do you think she will actually find lasting love with one of these men?

I must admit. I really missed Chris Harrison at the rose ceremony appearing to say “Jillian, gentlemen… it’s the final rose tonight.”

I have been so busy with the details and realities of moving across country that I missed something special happening in the blogosphere. But hey, better late than never to celebrate that a very important bridge that is being built!
