There’s a burning question on my mind. What could this be my bloggy friends?
Well, when a straight woman hands out with gay guys historically she has been called a “fag hag,” or more recently I read the term “queer dear.” But what is a straight guy called who likes to hang out with, or is friends with, lesbians?
Over the last decade my honey and I have found friendships with a few cool straight fellas (usually younger). What can I say, it is a nice dynamic. We got to hang out with a great guy last night. So, it got me thinking about the whole deal.
I threw it out on Twitter last night and got a few replies back. I heard: Lez Bro, “closeted” (ha ha) and Dyke Tyke. Any other ideas?

OK! More input on this topic. 11/4/09 update:
Lezbros defined as :
a lesbian’s cool, straight male friends, which (for the most part) see us as more of a wing(wo)man rather than a potential porno fantasy. Lezbros are every lady’s dream come true, right? No muss, no fuss friendships with none of that messy, “is it real date?” nonsense. Plus, you have someone to gossip with outside of your entourage and someone to go girl-watching with.
This was perfect!

likedyke, lezbud, galpal i dunno i like galpal but that doesn’t specifically reference lesbians
Thank you QU for weighing in on this! I don’t know I didn’t ask you in the first place!
But then on your blog today I saw the “bro ho” and thought… that’s right! You might have a “word of the gay” for me!
Thank you!
Also, thanks to Kevin who offered this comment via Twitter:
@riggledo @bridgeout ‘I prefer the term queer peer regardless of gender. I find THAT F-word very offensive, personally.’
I haven’t come across a term like that yet, just fag stag for straight guys who hang with gay men. I like queer peer but it makes the peer sound queer themselves lol.
See QU… I thought the same thing about the groovy queer peer– it isn’t clear whether the peer is queer or not– and in this scenario… the peer is NOT queer…
Thx so much for spitballing this with me!! {HUGS}!!
lol its fun and enhancing our gay vocab, who knows we may be on the verge of some huge word that goes uber popular and gets into websters lol
YES!!! We will start a brand new “word of the GAY”!!! You rock!!!
Hmmmmm, I am liking Lez Bud better than Lez Bro and I saw Bro Ho, on Queer Unity too, LOL.
Hey Rebecca!
Lez Bud isn’t bad.
Thanks for sharing the dialog!
AH! Another great suggestion enters the ring!

I laughed and thought of you since this edition of The Advocate has the term Les-bro in it.
HA!! No kidding? How cool! Thanks Q.U.!!
I asked a British male friend about that once and he said they call them a Dykey Likey.
HA!! That’s a cute one!!
