Last weekend one of our neighbors told us that her elderly grandma told them that she was going to “die in two days.” This grandma lives with her adult middle-aged children who are our neighbors. They have always been kind and genuine neighbors! Their daughters live near by. So, we sent them our well wishes as we headed on our way.
That was five days ago.
Neighbor grandma is still tethered here on earth… although daily we hear reports that she says she just wants to go home to see Jesus. Last report was she was waiting to see her brother who was to come in from out of town.
Within the last five days more than a half dozen cars have parked in front of their house. A fire engine visited once–nope–still here. And now, so many family members have come to say their goodbyes to this dear woman, that they have run out of space in their house! We were approached about them being allowed to set up their camper in our driveway. At first, I have to admit, I groaned and had visions of looking way too “white trash” for my liking. But as I came home from work last night and pulled around the camper… I just laughed. And then I thought what a small thing to provide a place to park their trailer so that more family and friends can stand by and wait by her side along the long road to letting go.
This photo I snapped this morning seemed quite fitting… from rainy ground… all the way up to the blue sky that this woman hopes to finally be freed to escape this mortal coil and fly up into!
God-speed sister!

I love that picture.
And yes, I hope she gets her wish.
HA!!! That’s just the best! You should see this
one house that is a couple of streets
away…I took a picture of it from afar.
I’m scared to take one full on….When
I find it I’ll post it….
You’re just a great soul….You ROCK!
HUGS!!!!!!!!!!
reminds me of the Scripture, “for now we see as through a glass, dimly, but then we will see clearly, face-to-face.” the bursting out of the soul into the everlasting. yes, she will see Jesus, as is her wish. blessings on you for your kindness, and safe travels for all visitors. this beautiful woman has an appointment with the Divine, and nothing shall compare to that!
breathingmoss: Thank you! I started with my camera phone pointed at the camper, and then I continued to lift it until I saw the patch of blue sky… and it seemed so apropos…
Laurie: I look forward to seeing that photo someday!
Thank you friend… that hit the spot today! Mega {HUGS}!!! (PS- you ROCK too, and you know it!)
Hey annie! Fitting passage! What a visual… “bursting”! Bursting out of the wheelchair… out of the body of pain… out from behind the eyes that see dimly… and running straight into the arms of the Savior… an appointment with the Divine indeed! Amen! {HUGS}!!!!
The grandmother may pass away, but her children and extended family will always remember your generosity and invitation.
Great picture. How wonderful that she’s hanging around to give everyone a chance to say goodbye…
Thank you very much Steven & Cooper!
We went by to say goodbye to her last night. She was unconscious (by medication), but her breathing seemed to change a bit as we touched her arm and spoke words of peace and blessing to her. Her daughter introduced us as their favorite loving neighbors. The house was packed with people!
