I have heard mentioned before the concept of a “homosexual agenda,” but pretty much scoffed at it thinking it was a joke of some sort. After all, only having been a part of the “gay community” for less than a decade, what do I know? All I know is in my circle of friends, my community, people I know of who are gay… amongst these groups… I don’t ever hear about or see any evidence of a “homosexual agenda.” So, my question is a real one: is there really a “homosexual agenda”?
I don’t remember how I came across this website, but I will tell you that what I read there is still very disturbing to me. Things like:
Quote: A former homosexual (now a Christian) says this about homosexuality. In his column, Michael Glatze, a former editor of the homosexual magazine “Young Gay America” doesn’t mince words, calling homosexual sex purely “lust-based,” meaning it can never fully satisfy. “It’s a neurotic process rather than a natural, normal one,” he writes. “Normal is normal – and has been called normal for a reason.”
OK, maybe that is more weird than disturbing: “homosexual sex as neurotic not natural or normal”? (Note the “former homosexual, now a Christian”…)
These fall under the deeply disturbing category, and I will only put headings in here without a lot of their unbelievable assertions and content. Headings such as “child molestation and pedophilia,” “question the dark side,” and “gay press promotes sex with children.”
Here are some stand-out highlighted points from the website:
“It is difficult to convey the dark side of the homosexual culture without appearing harsh,” wrote Baldwin. “However, it is time to acknowledge that homosexual behavior threatens the foundation of Western civilization – the nuclear family.”
“The goal of the Homosexual Agenda is no less that making it their civil right to allow homosexuals to have sex with our children…”
“Famous ‘Homosexual’ activist claims Constitution deems sex with animals an ‘inalienable right’.”
“It seems to be part of the homosexual agenda to dismiss everything in holy Scripture that calls homosexuality a grave sin against God.”
“Men from Sodom were extremely violent homosexuals. Not unlike the activist homosexuals in America today…” (with a picture of Sodom being destroyed with a note to click to see the destruction larger).
As for the “Sodom” piece, I wonder if they have read all the verses in the Bible that describe what the sins of Sodom were–the ones they were destroyed for. (”Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it.” Ezekiel 16:49-50).
Another sub-heading read: “Homosexual intolerance and hatred toward Christians…The ugly side of the ‘Homosexual Agenda’.” They also detail that there is a “homosexual handshake” and assert that “homosexuals are brainwashing our children in schools.” (They must have collaborated with Sally Kern on that one.)
I am not poking fun here, I am stating that I am disturbed at what this type of website is putting out there! And I ask again, of rational people, is there really a “homosexual agenda”? Or is this fear mongering to get people stirred up to get behind their belief system?
They even show a graphic illustrating what they believe to be “codes” in the Bible for homosexuality. Hey, it is a free country (pretty much), and I know people should be able to believe whatever they want to believe–I get that. But what I don’t get behind is people co-opting God into their fear mongering and into their “agenda” warnings. THAT is disturbing–as disturbing as the topics they assert as evidence that there is a “homosexual agenda.”
OK, just had to get that off of my mind and open it up here for possible input, discussion, wisdom…?

Let me introduce myself: I don’t think homosexuality is a vice; I don’t even think it’s a choice. It seems to me that Mother Nature does not care about the sexual orientation of all individuals; it only care that there should be enough reproduction of sufficient diversity to cope with environmental variation. As you can tell, I subscribe to the theory of evolution. I am an atheist so, I can’t possibly believe that homosexuality is a sin either. Sorry to brag but you are forcing me too: I am reasonably literate, in three languages. (I am writing you in my second language.) I am a reasonably well published sociologist with a doctorate from a good university. I get along fine with most gay men. If we met, there is a good chance you and I would have a couple of beers.
Sorry to contradict you but, there is a homosexual political agenda. It’s based on the tacit cultural homogeneity that arises as a matter of course when any category of people spend much of their time with those most like them. It’s led though hysterical repetition and false assertions by a tiny number of militants who would rather make a speech than have good sex any day.
Right now, at the head of the agenda is homosexual marriage. Tomorrow, it will be something else intended to modify ordinary people’s perception of reality. (And no, I don’t think the agenda will ever include the right to have sex with children, as another commentator apparently asserted.) If I were wrong, there would not be such a vociferous battle about marriage specifically. One is not needed because states either allow civil contracts that give you the same rights as a married couple, or their citizens are far less opposed to such contracts than they are to homosexual marriage. If equality is what’s wanted, thee is an easier path than the present political war.
There is nothing to prevent you from combining a civil contract with a ceremony of your choice, including one with two grooms or two brides.
