A few years back I had a routine of hiking up a trail at a local park–almost daily. When I would get to the end of my trail, there was a bridge that overlooked the picture you will see below. (One day I actually remembered my camera
). Every time I came to that point, a song came to my mind as I watched and heard the water wash over the rocks–and if I was alone by the time I reached that point in the trail, I would sing the song out loud along with the music of the water. Below the picture are the lyrics to the song “Rolling River God” by Nicole Nordeman.
“Rolling river God
Little stones are smooth
Only once the water passes throughSo, I am a stone
Rough and grainy still
Trying to reconcile this rivers chillBut when I close my eyes
And feel You rushing by
I know that time brings change
And change takes time
And when the sunset comes
My prayer would be this one
That You might pick me up
And notice that I am
Just a little smoother in Your handSometimes raging wild
Sometimes swollen high
Never have I known this river dryThe deepest part of You
Is where I want to stay
And feel the sharpest edges wash away.”
(By Nicole Nordeman)
My schedule has changed over the last few years, and now instead of the nature hike I squeeze in “Curves.” But I still have this picture up in my office with the song lyrics on it to remind me.

Beautiful and oh so true, great lyrics, thank you!
That is BEAUTIFUL!! the picture and the lyrics.
Man, I wish I could hike like I used to.
I need to loose this weight that I have gained but
stress is just putting more on me. Alright, and
the junk that I eat and lack of a good work out.
HUGS!!
Helga is going to Cheeky now then coming home
then I’ll send her off to you how’s that sound?
I know she’s just plastic but I miss her watching
me as I work. That’s creepy I know.
Thanks for poppin in Joni! You’re welcome.
Laurie! Thanks! Life gets so busy we don’t get to do some of the extra things we love…
I look forward to Helga’s visit! I’ll make it short and sweet and get her back to you ASAP! {HUGS!!}
